As a teen, Ysabel struggled with scoliosis. Her condition caused tremendous pain and her medical team recommended corrective surgery. However, Kody griped about the doctor’s advice.
He didn’t want to fly to New Jersey to attend her surgery, nor did he want to help pay for it. In fact, he even suggested postponing it at one point.

Right now, Christine Brown is pursuing legal action against her ex-husband. She’s reportedly suing for child support. And after the way Kody Brown treated her kids, especially Ysabel, most fans hope she wins in court.
“At the time of Ysabel’s scoliosis surgery, she would have been 17yo,” one Sister Wives fan wrote on Reddit recently. “Remember how Kody wanted to put it on hold? Cuz Covid? No! Slimeball didn’t want to be financially responsible. Let’s wait until she’s 18 so poor girl can get stuck with it herself. I hope Christine squeezes him dry.”
Quite a few Redditors pointed out that viewers will never know the entire story. On top of that, Christine Brown’s health insurance situation isn’t very clear. Other Reddit users agreed the timing was certainly odd. Comments included:

The Brown Family Patriarch Admits Regret
Sister Wives fans know that Kody Brown rarely admits fault. That’s why his confession in Sunday night’s episode was so shocking. In a confessional, the family patriarch admitted he had two major regrets during the pandemic. One of them was trying to kick Janelle’s sons out of her home. The other was failing to attend Ysabel’s spine surgery.
At this point, the relationship between Ysabel and her father might be beyond repair. On top of that, Kody admitted that many of the other children turned against him after he refused to go.
