Why did Sister Wives star, Christine Brown Woolley wait three years to sue her ex-husband, Kody Brown? She left the plural family in March 2021 and moved to Utah with their youngest daughter, Truely.
Now, in 2024, Christine has filed a lawsuit against Kody and there is a lot to it. Yet, what took the mother of six so long to handle business? Keep reading for more details.
Why Christine Brown Waited 3 Years To Sue Kody
For many years, Kody Brown was not responsible for the majority of his children. As it turned out, he was not even listed on their birth certificates. Due to the fact that they were polygamists, Janelle Brown and Christine Brown Woolley essentially had to act like single mothers.
This was despite the fact they had six children each. The only wife who had any legal claim to Kody was his first wife, Meri Brown as they were legally married. As Sister Wives viewers saw, Meri and Kody got divorced in 2014. Therefore, he could marry his fourth wife, Robyn Brown for the sake of her three children.
She had Dayton, Aurora, and Breanna from a previous marriage so they were now entitled to all of Kody’s benefits. When it came to Christine’s children, they got the short end of the stick.
Truely was hospitalized as a toddler, leaving Christine with an excessive bill. Then, Ysabel Brown desperately needed scoliosis surgery so her mother had to get her health insurance.
Finally, Christine helped with Gwendlyn Brown’s breast reduction. Now, she has had it and wants a paternity test for Truely as well as back child support but why now?
- I think she gave him 3 years to show her what kind of a father he was going to be before doing anything. I’m guessing he has been completely absent from Truley’s life and this was the final straw, she decided to force accountability as a father onto him.
- I was thinking the Why Now is due to Truly being 14- when courts will consider her opinion on custody arrangements?
Other Questions & Ideas
One of the biggest questions Sister Wives fans had was if Christine Brown Woolley’s suit could stop Kody Brown’s home sale. He and Robyn Brown are currently selling their Flagstaff house for $1.6 million.
Many stated that she is not entitled to his assets as child support is based on income. Yet, when it comes to a good case about Kody ignoring his children, one person added this:
- Not a lawyer and not sure what the laws in AZ and UT are but seems to me she has a solid case against him for child abandonment. WELL documented thanks to filming!
