Soap fans are never happy when their favorite shows are interrupted for news or planned events like sports.
But unfortunately, General Hospital is going to be preempted twice this week with the possibility of a third day depending on how things shake out.
GH will be preempted on Tuesday, Oct. 1, and Wednesday, Oct. 2, for postseason baseball. ABC will broadcast the first two games in the Wild Card series from 2 p.m. ET through 5 p.m. ET on those days featuring a matchup between the Detroit Tigers and the Houston Astros.
Unfortunately, the Wild Card Series is best of three, meaning that if both teams win one game on each day, then a third tie-breaker game will need to be held on Thursday, Oct. 3. In that case, the episode of GH currently scheduled to air on that day would then be pushed to Friday, Oct. 4. (Meaning that Van Hansis’ debut as the new Lucas would be pushed to Monday, Oct. 7.)
Viewers don’t have to worry about missing any of the action in Port Charles because after Monday’s episode, GH will air the very next episode on either Thursday or Friday, depending on the results of the baseball games.
As always, don’t bother looking for any of the preempted episodes on Hulu or ABC.com in the evening because they won’t be there as no episode was scheduled to air in the first place.
Just cross your fingers that the Tigers or the Astros win both games on Tuesday and Wednesday so GH will be back on in its normal time slot on Thursday.
General Hospital Recasts Aiden Spencer With Colin Cassidy
General Hospital (GH) spoilers hint that a new face will be popping up in the land of Port Charles, very soon. According to Soap Opera Digest (SOD) the role of Aiden Spencer has been recast to actor Colin Cassidy, who will debut during the Monday, September 30 episode.
Cassidy will be taking the Aiden Spencer role over from previous young actor, Tristan Riggs.
GH Spoilers: Aiden Spencer’s History In Port Charles
GH spoilers remind fans that Aiden first entered the canvas in July 2010 as Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) and Elizabeth Baldwin’s (Rebecca Herbst) son.
Despite his age, the character has dealt with its fair share of recasts. While twins were in the role during Aiden’s baby years, Jonathan Jackson’s real-life son, Titus Jackson, slipped into the part from 2011 to 2012 until Jason David was recast from 2012 to 2021.
Young actor Enzo De Angelis assumed the role in 2021 until Riggs took over earlier this year.
GH Spoilers: Recast Comes At An Interesting Time
It’s more than interesting that Cassidy is entering the role at this point in time, especially off the cusp of Lucky’s rescue in Africa and his “official” return to the little town.
Aiden will undeniably be seen more on canvas, as he (potentially) struggles to re-form a bond with his dad, who’s come back to possibly “save the day” for his Aunt Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins) who is in dire need of a liver transplant and has been in a coma since 2020.
Cassidy recently stated to SOD that, “I feel incredibly grateful for this opportunity.”
He goes on to say, “To be thrown in with the incredible actors I’m working with and have these amazing scenes to do … It’s really not something to scoff at! It’s a big deal and I’m very grateful.”
