GENERAL Hospital fans have criticized the show for Willow Tait and Drew Cain’s illicit romance storyline.
Viewers slammed the “disgusting” plot twist that might lead to Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) spending the night with her husband’s uncle Drew (Cameron Mathison), on social media.
Willow is married to Michael Corinthos (played by Chad Duell), the son of A.J. Quartermaine and Carly Spencer.
He was later adopted by mob boss Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard).
To add insult to injury, Willow is the daughter of Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watross), who has a secret affair with Drew on the long-running soap opera.
Spoilers for next week, posted by Soap Dirt, suggest that Drew and Willow might be getting ready to take their relationship to the next level, with fans urging the show to “do better.”
During Friday’s episode, Drew and Willow acknowledged their inappropriate feelings for each other before sharing a passionate kiss, leaving several viewers uncomfortable about what comes next.
“I honestly am at a loss for words with the Willow & Drew stuff,” one viewer commented under a preview posted on General Hospital’s Instagram account.
“It’s so disgusting,” they continued. “This is Drew’s nephew’s wife. For him to say the things he said and do the things he did… for her to say and do what she did… it’s so gross. I honestly can’t stand it.”
Another comment read, “I am repulsed by Drew and Willow. I fast forward immediately as soon as I see Drew’s face.”
“Writers Why?” a third person added. “This thing with Willow and Drew is disgusting!”
“You need to stop this. I can’t believe Drew is doing this…”
Fans became convinced that Drew and Willow were going to sleep together after Thursday night’s episode was aired, with some people pointing out the exact moment that brings them even closer.
‘THE CRINGE’
Speaking at a campaign rally, Drew thanked Willow for being his “cheerleader” while praising Michael “for being smart enough” to marry her.
Shortly after, they found themselves alone with each other, as Willow enquired about Congressman McConkey’s whereabouts.
She later found Drew standing by himself, looking devastated, and asked him what was wrong.
After informing her that the congressman had passed away earlier that day, Drew asked Willow if they could continue their conversation somewhere more private.
Watching them back in Drew’s office, fans on X suggested they were going to “get it on,” with one person writing, “Are Drew and Willow going to get it on now?”
A second user added, “Willow and Drew are definitely going to use that poor man’s death to have sex.”
“Willow is abandoning her family to comfort Drew. Who knew this guy for what 6 months? And knew he was dying. He was preparing for it. She is making the worst decisions,” a third comment read.
Ahead of Friday’s episode, General Hospital teased what might happen next in an X post, with the caption, “Drew is shaken in the wake of Congressman McConkey’s death.
