If you happen to watch ABC7 News out of Chicago, you know that every Thursday, meteorologist Tracy Butler and reporter Diane Pathieu host a digital segment called SoapChat to dish on the happenings in General Hospital’s Port Charles.
They’ve had many actors on their show and the most recent one was Asher Antonyzyn, who, as you know, plays Danny.
The young actor was happy to be on their show and they dug right into how it’s been for him to land his first acting role on a soap opera.
Walking onto the set for the first time, he was simply in awe, and when it came to working with Steve Burton, who plays his onscreen dad Jason, Antonyzyn shared, “The bond you see on camera is what you see off camera.
Working with him has just been such a learning experience, learning from a legend like him, it’s so awesome.”
The ladies then surprised him with a special message from Burton, who had learned he would be on the show. “It’s been awesome to get to know Asher.
We have a great time working together and it’s really cool to see him grow as an actor,” Burton stated. “The future is bright for him. Looking forward to see what the show has in store for us.”
Next, they talked about the scene where Jason was teaching Danny how to fix a motorcycle. “That was awesome,” Antonyzyn said then recalled another scene where he put Jason’s leather coat on. “I was like, just felt like a different person.”
With summer now here, when asked how challenging it was to juggle school and working on a soap, he admitted it was hard to get used to… being in L.A. for two weeks then back in Chicago where he lives for another two. “It was pretty difficult,” he said. “But I got it done.” The hosts then urged his teachers to continue to be more lenient on him so they could see more of Antonyzyn in Port Charles.
To close out the interview, when asked if we’ll be seeing more of Danny mixed up in the dark web surrounding Sam and Jason, Antonyzyn replied, “Coming up, there’s going to be some tough decisions for Danny to have to make.
Yeah, there’s going to be some challenging stuff coming up for Danny. Stay tuned to watch that, it’s going to be awesome.”
