General Hospital’s Dominic Zamprogna Addresses Exit Fears – Responds to Fans After Dante Departure Panic
General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) has achieved a major milestone. Since Zamprogna made his GH debut on June 22, 2009, it’s time to celebrate his 15th anniversary at the ABC soap.
Zamprogna kicked off his run with an undercover mission, so Dante used the alias “Dominic Pirelli” early on.
Of course, “Dominic” aka Dante was ultimately revealed as Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) son, but Sonny didn’t find out until after he pumped a bullet in him!
Although Zamprogna took a break from the show in 2018, he made a big comeback as Dante in 2020 and remains a popular character.
However, there were some scary moments earlier this year that left some fans fearful about Dominic Zampogna’s future on the show.
After Dante got shot and things took a comatose turn for him back in March, that led to some anxiety about him potentially joining Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan) in off-screen coma land.
In an interview with SOD, Zamprogna addressed all the potential departure panic and confessed that even he was worried for a second there!
After GH Executive Producer Frank Valentini called Dominic Zamprogna into his office and revealed the coma situation, Zamprogna initially had some concerns about the story direction.
“There’s any number of ways comas can go,” Zamprogna said. “People joke, ‘Oh, you’ve got easy work.’ And it’s like, ‘Yeah, as long as it’s an on-screen coma! I don’t want to be in an off-screen coma, because then I’m not on the show!’”
Thankfully, Dante’s coma didn’t last too long, so he was able to reunite with his loved ones and clear Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) name.
All the panic online turned out to be for nothing, but Zamprogna insisted it “means the world” to know that viewers want him around.
Zamprogna also expressed his gratitude to fans for sticking with him on this wild ride. Let’s hope that Dante remains in Port Charles for many more years to come!
Our predictions hint that Dante has some gripping material ahead as the truth about Sonny’s altered medication comes out, so Zamprogna will have more chances to flex his acting chops.
