MINUTES AGO! General Hospital Spoilers Genie Francis Drops Breaking News! GH OFFICIAL
Many parents don’t buy the fact that having the TV on helps kids focus on their homework. However, Genie Francis just might.
The actress, a Daytime Emmy-winner for her role as iconic Laura on General Hospital, recently revealed a special technique that enables her to memorize all her dialogue.
There Is No Bad News
Not only was Francis in attendance at Nancy Lee Grahn’s Daytime Unites…to end ALS event earlier this month, but her husband, Jonthan Frakes (ex-Marshall, Bare Essence; Star Trek: The Next Generation), was too.
The actor handled moderating duties for the event’s Q&A session, and he brought a very special question to his wife of almost 40 years. “I was going to ask you to share what I witness nightly,” Frakes said. “You put 30 pages of dialogue in your head with sometimes the [TV] news on. You hand me [your] script and say, ‘Let’s see if I got it.’”
She does, of course, as evidenced by her must-see performances that she’s been delivering since her teenage years. “How long between the time you perform 30 pages [on set] and unwind that you have put 30 more in,” Frakes queried.
“Oh, my goodness,” Francis replied with a chuckle. “I don’t know what this question is about!” Her husband added that he is amazed at her ability to learn and keep scenes in her head. You make them all sing.”
“When I’m learning my lines, I need a little pressure,” Genie Francis revealed. “I watch the news and I learn my lines at the same time because I have to ‘fight’ to block out the news and focus [on the script]. It gives me something to fight against and it makes it go in harder.”
Daytime Unites…to end ALS raised $71,000! Grahn has taken to social media to thank her fellow daytime performers for lending their time and generosity.
