Sister Wives' Christine Brown Shares Vulnerable Message for Women Feeling "Trapped"
Sister Wives star Christine Brown, who was married to Kody Brown, has something to say to women who felt like she once did: “trapped, stuck, and afraid there was no way out.”
Christine Brown has an empowering message for women feeling scared and stuck in their current life situations.
The Sister Wives star, who was the first of Kody Brown’s ex-wives to leave the plural marriage, shared words of encouragement and support to help them break free.
“Extra vulnerable post here, but I’m speaking to the women out there who felt like I did—trapped, stuck, and afraid there was no way out,” the 52-year-old wrote on Instagram Sept. 2. “I want you to know you’re not alone. I’ve been there. And I want to encourage you to find ways to choose joy, even when fear tells you to stay where you are.”
Christine shared the post almost three years after she announced her split from Kody—with whom she shares children Aspyn, 29, Mykelti, 28, Paedon, 26, Gwendlyn, 22, Ysabel, 21, and Truely, 14—after a 25-year plural spiritual marriage.
“I remember knowing that I had to make changes and the life that I was living wasn’t one I had in mind,” she said in a video. “And I knew the only person responsible to make those changes was myself. I didn’t know how to make those changes and I didn’t know what to do and I felt so lost. And I realized that I was making my decisions based on fear.”
Christine continued, “And I’m gonna tell you straight up, it’s time to make your decisions based on joy. It’s time to make your decisions based on hope. There is hope. It’s a brighter future, it’s a brighter world.
It is in your control. There are answers out there, believe me, there are answers. And I believe in you. I know there’s better things in store for you.”
However since her breakup with Kody—who subsequent split with wives Meri Brown and Janelle Brown and is currently married to Robyn Brown—Christine has found love with husband David Woolley.
“We need some sort of a call to action in order to make our lives better and to improve and improve our financial situation,” she said. “My gosh, I’ve been so blessed to be able to find a source of strength and so grateful for that.
So there is hope. There is so much better out there and I believe it in for you. I believe in it for myself and I believe in it for all of us.”
