Sam McCall on General Hospital was first introduced on the show on October 1, 2024, and since then, Kelly has played the role. During this two-decade journey of the character, Lindsay Hartley has filled in for Monaco, a few times in 2020, 2022, and 2024, for brief durations.

On August 26, 2024, the news about the exit of Kelly Monaco broke on the internet, leaving the fans of General Hospital in shock. The actor’s exit from the show is marked by the death of her character Sam as reported by Soap Opera Network.

However, the makers or the actress have not yet confirmed anything on how Sam will die on the show, but looking at the current plotlines, it can be assumed that the plot that will lead to Sam’s death can be related to the search for Lucky Spencer.

General Hospital: What will lead to Sam’s death?

Kelly Monaco’s departure has been confirmed due to her character’s death on the show General Hospital. However, since Sam is not shown in any dangerous situation, the show’s unpredictable storylines could lead to dramatic developments at any time.

The viewers see that Laura is desperately trying to find her son Lucky Spencer, who might be able to save Lulu’s life, Sam could become involved in this quest as a private investigator.

Sam’s connections with the Spencer family, especially her close ties with Dante and Rocco, might lead her to help in finding Lucky. Dante who knows that finding Lucky Spencer can be risky and wants to make sure that Sam remains safe, might ask Jason to accompany her since he can’t leave Lulu and Rocco alone.

The search operation might soon become a dangerous rescue mission as Lucky has been held captive at some prison with bodybuilder men keeping an eye on him. While trying to save Lucky, Jason and Sam might face a dangerous turn of events, such as a dramatic shootout or a deadly trap.

The incident could ultimately lead to Sam McCall’s death by either getting shot by some mercenary or while trying to save Jason or some other character.

How will Sam’s death affect the people of Port Charles?

Sam McCall’s death on General Hospital will leave the characters in Port Charles destroyed and heartbroken. Dante (Sam’s lover) and Alexis (her mother), who are both close to Sam, might think Jason is responsible for her death, which could cause problems between them and him.

Sam’s death will also affect her kids, especially Danny. Losing his mom might either bring him closer to his father Jason or create a conflict between father and son as they both deal with the loss of their loved one.

Sam’s death might also lead to some reunions and changes in the relationships of the people in Port Charles. With Sam not being around, Dante might get back to Lulu if she survives. Kristina and Molly might also grow closer, finding comfort in each other as they grieve for their sister.

Sam’s death can lead to many new developments in several ongoing storylines but at the same time end the possibility of some ever taking place, like the desire of the viewers to see #JaSam back together.

General Hospital’s last casting is Emmanuel Jalbert who will be playing a character named Gerard, and will be part of Lucky’s story.

General Hospital has had some exciting casting news lately as Parry Shen returned to reprise his role of Brad Cooper, and Kelly Monaco, who plays Sam, was let go.

A few newcomers will appear soon, some of whom will participate in Lucky’s new storyline as Jonathan Jackson has also returned to the canvas. Among the people joining that story is Emmanuel Jalbert as a character named Gerard, so here’s what you need to know.

Things To Know

According to his IMDb page, Jalbert was born in Gatineau, Quebec, and at age five, his family moved to Boston, MA, where he realized he enjoyed playing football.

He eventually attended the University of Rhode Island, but between his freshman and sophomore years, he dropped out to become an actor, which was a lifelong dream.

As an actor, his journey began in 2016, when he appeared in a string of short films and an uncredited role as a model in a 2019 episode of The Young and the Restless.

He also appeared in TV shows such as The FolkloristBuried in the Backyard, and Bloody Famous, among others. As a rising star, he’s also got a couple of TV movies in the works and will be a great addition to the GH cast.

Good Guy?

According to Soap Opera News, Gerard will be embroiled in the Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) storyline, which started off with a bang.

Much like his father, Luke (Anthony Geary), the young Spencer has been going up against bad guys and recently infiltrated an as-yet unknown sinister organization to rescue someone he knows — a doctor named Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson). (Learn more about Lucky’s infiltration.)

Details about Gerard’s involvement in the story will have yet to be released, so we don’t know if he’s on Lucky’s side or the villains’. Either way, we’re excited to see some fresh faces on the show and look forward to seeing how his character will fit in with the rest of the Port Charles gang!
